**Tell us a bit about yourself.**

I grew up in the Bay Area and completed my undergraduate at UC San Diego in Bioengineering: Bioinformatics. My research interests involve computational techniques to efficiently analyze sequencing data in the hopes of discovering new biology. I chose the BIG program because of the exceptional faculty and access to the companies and institutions in the Boston area. My favorite class so far is Biophys 205 co-taught by Dr. Bulyk and Dr. Sunyaev, you have the opportunity to read a ton of interesting papers and get a bird's eye view of bioinformatics as a field. My advice to anyone considering a PhD in Bioinformatics is to try starting research early in undergrad. If you find yourself enjoying it, then you should strongly consider pursuing a PhD! Science is cool!
